Piper continued to endorse and praise Driscoll even after his fall because he's part of the reformed team, but calls others like Rob Bell (no scandals) heretics because of difference of beliefs and different convictions about theology. John officiated Barnabas's wedding when he remarried. When his son, Barnabas Piper divorced his wife in 2017 however he had his dad's full approval and support. He ordered his congregation to "shun" her as well. When she did not listen to his terrible advice and divorced her husband, she was then publicly ridiculed, excommunicated, and "shunned" by Piper from the pulpit. John Piper: Told a congregant who had given so much of her tithes and time to his church that she would be living in sin if she divorced her physically abusive husband. Apparently Driscoll holds no actual convictions as long as he still has a stage and a platform. He’s also really into telling women they should give their husbands blow jobs, and even said once from the pulpit that it’s wrong for women to deprive their husbands of BJs because they are biblical. When Ted Haggard was brought down by a gay sex scandal, Driscoll blamed Haggard's wife for "letting herself go." Driscoll was forced to resign in 2014 after the plagiarism scandal, followed by allegations of emotional abusiveness, misogyny, and misuse of church funds. Now ousted from the calvinist, reformed community he had built his brand upon, Driscoll rebranded himself by attending egalitarian conferences and writing books and palling around in free will circles. Right as the elders were going to administer church discipline to Driscoll, he resigned, hopped one state over from Washington to Arizona and planted a different church. Mark Driscoll: Founder of Acts 29 church planting network that stole hundreds of thousands of dollars to hire an illicit service that bought his way onto the NYT Bestsellers list, continually verbally abused his staff including but not limited to telling a campus pastor "If you don't fucking fix this, I will shit down your throat" when a service was running over alotted time, said that women are "penis-homes" and created for men's sexual pleasure, said that anti-depressants were "the pussification of the American church," freely said the word f*gg*t from the pulpit, got caught plagiarizing several passages in his books, was generally an overall asshole, and oh so much more. Something clearly isn't working and must change!! I, myself, know at least 10 other pastors and ministry leaders I could have included on this list, but their churches are not famous and they are not published authors with famous podcasts. Keep in mind that this list is by no means comprehensive, and these are only the prominent names standing to reason that there are likely thousands more happening at smaller churches and ministries. I sincerely believe these types of positions are platforms must be set up in a way that attract and perpetuate narcissists and serial abusers. In light of the Ravi Zacharias scandal further coming to light, proving that he was nothing but a rapist and a farce, I decided it would be interesting to just name all of the pastors and Christian leaders I could think of that have had scandals. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.EDIT: I have expanded the list and added all of your wonderful additions! Keep 'em coming!!
